HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR SESSION

How to make the MOST out of your session:

1.  Wear outfits that make you feel beautiful!! If you feel beautiful when you put on your outfits and look in the mirror, it will definitely show in your images. Don’t try to force yourself into something uncomfortable that you wouldn’t normally wear (this goes for girls AND guys). Just be you.

2. Don’t be afraid of color! Fun, colorful outfits add an extra pop to your pictures. These pictures will be a reflection of the amazing person you are, so go ahead and have fun with your style and show everyone who you are!

3. Please bring 3 to 4 complete outfits to choose from (we love outfits that create shape)! Clothing that fits closer to your body and gives you shape will ALWAYS be more flattering in pictures than clothing that is over sized and flowy 🙂

4. Don’t forget your accessories! Be sure to bring belts, earrings, necklaces, or anything else you have to complete your outfits.

How to PREPARE for your session:

1. Make sure your toes and nails are neatly manicured. Stick with neutral colors or colors that won’t clash with your outfits.

2. Make sure all parts of your body that will be exposed are freshly shaved (legs and under arms).

3. Make sure your eyebrows are neatly trimmed (if you wax, please do this at least 1-2 days before the session, not the day of).

4. Make sure your undergarments (bra and underwear) are neutral colors, nude if possible. If you have a nude strapless bra, even better!

5. Arrive with a fresh face, no makeup, just moisturizer. Exfoliating your face, including your lips the night before, will help the makeup go on smooth and give you a flawless look.

6. Make sure your hair is dry and clean if getting your hair styled at the studio.

7. Bring all your clothes on a hanger to avoid wrinkles (wrinkles cannot be fixed in the picture).

8. If you have lots of accessories, keep them organized with individual baggies or with a travel bag with individual slots.

9. Be sure to EAT BEFORE your session and bring along snacks.

10. Most importantly, be ready to HAVE FUN! 🙂

Guidelines for the person in the “hot seat” (getting their hair/makeup done):

1. Please do not use any styling products in your hair the morning of or the day before that are “serum” type products to control frizz. These prevent hold in hair styles. If you have arranged other hair prepping guidelines with the artists, please ignore this guideline.

2. Come with a clean face–no moisturizers or any crèmes on the face. Moisturizers and crèmes prevent the foundation and makeup from lasting the full 16 hours. If you have dry skin, we are happy to spray our moisturizer on after your makeup application that is meant to be used with airbrush makeup.

3. Wear a button down shirt or one that can easily be taken off.

Day Of Your Session:

1. Please arrive 10 minutes early to give you time for traffic and  parking.

2. Once you arrive you will be greeted by our MUAH (makeup and hair stylist). She will have a short consultation with you as to what you would like with your hair and makeup before she begins.

3. Hair and makeup usually takes about an hour.

4. Your photographer will meet you at the JOIE PHOTOGRAPHIE studio by the end of your makeup and hair session. You will be following them to the locations which are usually no further than 10 miles away.

5.You can lock your purse, cell phones, and wallets in the car trunk of your car. We can carry around small items for you like car keys and lip gloss in our camera bag. We want your hands to be free during the session.

6. Go to the restroom right before you leave. Many places that we will go will not have restrooms nearby.

7. Have fun! We’ll take care of making you look fantastic so don’t worry about a thing. We realize most people are not used to being in front of a camera, so we will be there giving you plenty of direction.
